The 2007 CWA District 7 Health and Safety Conference will be held in Denver, Colorado on Friday afternoon September 14, 2007 and all day Saturday September 15, 2007. 

Hotel rooms are available at the Denver Lakewood Holiday Inn located at 7390 West Hampton.  For reservations please call:  303-980-9200 and ask for the “Qwest rate” ($69 plus tax, breakfast is included).   

CWA Local 7777 will host the conference at the Local’s Union Hall, 2840 South Vallejo Street, Englewood, Colorado. Meals will be provided by CWA at the conference and there is no registration fee. Local 7777 recently organized Denver Taxi Drivers and will provide a list of union cabs. Shuttle between the hotel and the Local will also be worked out. 

Dave and I are still finalizing the agenda and will send it out next week. There will be topics of interest for all sectors and locals. Discussion/training will include dangers in the work place – acts of violence, electrical hazards, ergonomics and safety in ski, airline and police work environments. In addition, we will feature coverage of the Employee Free Choice Act and what we need to do within the District to ensure its passage.   

As in years past we anticipate attendance from CWA - Police, Airline, Ski Patrol, Taxi Drivers, Telephone, Printers, Mailers and other CWA workers from all District 7 locals. We realize that budgets are tight for all Locals and we have taken steps to reduce the cost for transportation, hotel and taxi. Please take the necessary steps to insure representation from every Local for this important training.
