Subject: 2012 National Legislative-Political Conference and 2012 Presidents Meeting
Dear Colleagues:
Our 2012 National Legislative-Political Conference is right around the corner and registration is now open. The Conference will be held from January 31– February 2nd.
As we head into a challenging election year, we hope to bring as many CWA members as possible together on Capitol Hill. During our time together, we will discuss the political landscape during this critical election year, we will let Members of Congress know that their relentless attacks on the nation’s labor laws and union members is not the solution to resolving our jobs crisis and we will work on developing the skills necessary to fight back against the onslaught of corporate money in the political process.
Our work in building a movement to first overcome the blocks in our democracy that have been erected by corporate interests and then to enact our goals of good jobs, fighting unfair trade, ensuring a sound retirement for all Americans, providing for affordable health care for all, and to enact laws that protect and enhance our organizing and collective bargaining rights is more important now than ever. We will hear from our allies in Congress and in the progressive community and share stories and experiences from across all CWA sectors as we plan our path forward to ensure that the 99% in this country have their voices heard.
The Conference will begin on the afternoon of January 31, continue all day on February 1, with the afternoon spent lobbying on Capitol Hill and then wrap up by early afternoon of February 2.
The 2012 Presidents meeting will be held February 2 and will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Both meetings will be held at the Omni-Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert Street, Washington, DC 20008.
Registration fee for the LP Conference is $25 per participant. You can go to http://www.cwa-union.org/lp-presidents and register now and to find all information. A more detailed agenda will be provided as we approach the Conference.
